20th September 2011: Thing to Do

I am sure a lot of us must have pondered upon what we would do if it were our last day to live. Our list would include doing a lot of things from adventure sports to spending the day with our loved ones. Skeptics say this philosophy is not the best way to live, which I partially agree with but some things which this one thought seeds in our mind is very easy to do. The things where we do not have to go out, or spend money on. These are the most simple things to do. The Thing to Do today is:

"With the most sincere feeling in your heart, tell the person you love the most how much they mean to you"

Do you really want to wait till you are dead to tell your spouse how much you love them? Do you want to wait till you die to see if you expressed yourself enough? Do you want your partner to wonder if you really loved him/her? Will the girl/guy in your next class know how much you think about them if you just sit there doing nothing?

I know it is a lot of mushy stuff for most of you. But honestly think about it. It does not harm anyone, it does not cost anything and it will mean a lot to the person you love. They will know it each waking day that you truly loved them.

19th September 2011: Thing to Do

Most of us have been to the place where we loose all hope, give up on all our dreams or just living the daily routine without any purpose to our living. The worst thing we do in all this is believe that we are destined to be like this and do nothing about it. The Thing to Do today is:

"Have lots of faith in yourself"

Strongly believe that you can do things that you want to do, you just need to think how to do those things. If you have dreamed about doing something, the question is not about what to do. In this case the question becomes how and when to do it. So keep believing strongly in yourself. I can't restrain myself from quoting this from Paulo Coehlo "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it". So keep the faith in yourself, for when you loose faith in yourself no one and trust me no one not even your parents will be able to help you out.

16th September 2011: Thing to Do

There are a lot of things we love which harm our health. Like excessive consumption of alcohol, smoking, eating too much junk food and so on and so forth. The thing that I love the most is undoubtedly food. And mind you not just eating to live, I in a way live to eat. I realised it was harming me more than helping me so I decided to do something about it. The Thing to Do today is:

"Give up something you really love but it harms your health for a period of time"

I have given up eating cheese for a year. Something that scintillates me. The aroma of freshly baked cheese over a quiche or melting away on a pizza. The flaky texture of Parmesan. Sigh but it was adding to my waist, so I decided to do away with it for a year.

Do let me know what you have decided to give up and for how long and then lets track our progress.

15th September 2011: Thing to Do

After a break of almost 3 years I am back. And this time I will continue the blog on a daily basis.

So after a whirlwind of an experience in the last 3 years from extreme highs to the current extreme lows, I have learnt that we do not do enough of the thing for today. The Thing to Do today is:

"Tell a loved one how much you appreciate their presence in your life"

We often forget that the people who have helped us come in varied shapes and sizes and we have to learn to look beyond the exterior facade. We have to appreciate the person who they are. The person who worries about you, the one who even though cannot express it cares a lot about you. For me these people are my parents, my life partner, my sisters, my friends and my colleagues. Hope you find the person you appreciate and tell them about it.

Keeping with the trends of new age social media, I have created a Facebook page and a Twitter id as well
Our Twitter id is @athingaday7 and our Facebook page is  A Thing A Day
